The winner of the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week poll is . . .
Taylor Hill of Northside is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
Hill is a senior and a captain on Northside’s cross country team. She received a scholarship offer from New College of Florida. She placed 29th out of 150 runners with a time of 23:52.97 at Westover Invitational in Albany.
“Four-year runner, exceptional leadership skills on and off the field,” coach Mattie Fisher told the Ledger-Enquirer in an email. “Always willing to go the extra mile for her teammates.”
We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a female athlete for this poll.
Among this week’s three nominees, Hill received 52% of the 45,827 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
