Columbus boys tennis team sweeps Bremen; girls beat Bremen 4-1

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- The Columbus boys tennis team notched a sweep against Bremen in a non-region match on Monday at Callaway Gardens.

Jacob Yates, Parker Swift and Ford Cummings each picked up wins in Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles, respectively. The team of Arnav Patel and Andrew Bray won No. 1 doubles and Jacob Sholtis and Kyle Canady won No. 2 doubles.

Columbus is 8-5 overall and 5-0 in Region 1-AAAAA competition. It will play against today at Lakebottom against LaGrange.Monday at Callaway Gardens

BROOKSTONE BOYS 7, OPELIKA 2

OPELIKA, Ala. -- The Brookstone boys tennis team defeated Opelika 7-2 on Monday in Opelika, improving its record to 7-2 overall this season. It is 5-0 in Region 4-A action.

In singles, Jonathan Dreelin (No. 1), Sahil Arora (No. 3), Hudson Terrell (No. 4), Charles Pease (No. 5) and Michael Umana (No. 6) all picked up victories. The pairs of Dreelin and Jack Pease (No. 2 doubles) and Charles Pease and Umana (No. 3 doubles) also won.

BROOKSTONE GIRLS 9, OPELIKA 0

OPELIKA, Ala. -- The Brookstone girls tennis team swept Opelika 9-0 on Monday on the road to improve to 7-1 on the season.

Jessica Lewis won 8-2, Emmie Patton 8-0, Rachel Hemmings 8-2, Abbie Dillon 8-0, Abigail Pitts 8-2 and Rachel Grier 8-1 in singles. The duo of Dillon and Pitts won No. 1 doubles 8-2, Lewis and Patton No. 2 doubles 8-2, and Grier and Edwards No. 3 doubles 8-1.

The Columbus girls tennis team defeated Bremen on Monday at Cooper Creek 4-1. It got wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles from Madelyn Boren and Caroline Boren, respectively, and at both doubles, Maddison Abell/Abby Courville and Nicole Gordon/Elizabeth Steelmon.

The win improved the Lady Blue Devils' record to 10-3 overall. They are 5-0 in Region 1-AAAAA play. They play again today against LaGrange at Lakebottom Park.Monday at Cooper Creek
