The winner of the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week poll is . . .
Baylee Hetzel of Harris County is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
Hetzel is a sophomore rusher on Harris County’s flag football team. She produced a total of 12 flag pulls and three sacks against Pacelli (12-0 loss), Kendrick (53-0 win), Callaway (52-0 win) and Smiths Station (25-12 win).
We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a female athlete for this poll.
Among this week’s three nominees, Hetzel received 61% of the 5,525 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
