Local athletes make impacts during AHSAA all-star week
Six area players and one coach participated in Alabama’s AHSAA All-Star games this past week.
In last Friday’s football game, a 14-13 win for the North, Central’s Camarcus Williams helped anchor a defense that allowed just 180 total yards. He recorded six total tackles in the game, tied for the third most on the team.
Katie Webb represented Central softball on the South team, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs in the first of two games, a 4-3 win for the South. Game 2 was called early with the North leading 1-0. Webb failed to reach base in her only at bat in that game.
Central’s Tionne Williams and Smiths Station’s Stephon Jackson both participated in the boys basketball game, a 72-65 win for the South. The win snapped a 12-year losing streak for the South. Stats for the game were not immediately available.
In baseball, Central’s Jermond Williams played in both games of a doubleheader for the South, which lost 6-2 and 6-4.
In soccer, Smiths Station’s Christian Howell played for the South in a game that ended in a 0-0 tie.
