The winner of the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week poll is . . .

Lani Dansby of Harris County is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.

Dansby is a senior shortstop on Harris County’s state champion softball team. In the the Georgia High School Association Class AAAA state tournament wins last week against Ola, Eastside-Covington, Northside and Eastside-Covington again, she went 5-for-11, with four RBI, four walks and three stolen bases, plus two home runs in the title game. She also turned two double plays.

We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a female athlete for this poll.

Among this week’s three nominees, Dansby received 75% of the 1,604 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
