The winner of the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week poll is . . .
Malajah Harris of Chattahoochee County is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
Harris is a junior on ChattCo’s rifle team and a cadet first lieutenant in JROTC. She shot 282 out of 300 points to finish second against Northside.
Her coach, Lt. Col. Kelvin Scott, called Harris “an exceptional cadet and athlete. Her dedication to improving her skills, both on and off the range, is evident in her performance.”
We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a female athlete for this poll.
Among this week’s five nominees, Harris received 55% of the 16,883 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
