The winner of the Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week poll is . . .
Jack Russell of Chattahoochee County is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
Russell is a senior on ChattCo’s wrestling team. In the 175-pound weight class, he opened the season by going 5-0 last week against Kendrick and Sumter County and winning all his matches at the Temple High School tournament.
We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a male athlete for this poll.
Among this week’s four nominees, Russell received 58% of the 7,977 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
