3 more Columbus area teams nearing football state title. Here’s how to watch.

Three football teams are a combined four wins away from producing three more state championships for the Columbus area.

Central High School’s football and flag football teams will play Wednesday at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama, where both teams could bring back to Phenix City their second straight Alabama High School Athletic Association state titles.

The Central girls face Spain Park at 4 p.m. Eastern Time in the Class 6A/7A flag football final, followed by the Central boys against Thompson in the Class 7A football final at 8 p.m.

All nine games of the 2024 AHSAA Super 7 will be broadcast live on Alabama Public Television, which is free. Those games also will be livestreamed on the National Federation of State High School Associations subscription network.

Two days later across the Chattahoochee River in Muscogee County, the Carver High School football team will play a Georgia High School Association Class AA state seminal against Appling County at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 in Odis Spencer Stadium. That game will be livestreamed on the NFHS subscription network as well.

And to attend the Central and Carver games in person, you can buy tickets on the GoFan digital app.

These teams are trying to join another Columbus area football program that already has won a state title this season. The Pacelli flag football team captured its third straight Georgia Independent Athletic Association championship last month with a 30-0 victory over Georgia Christian.

But wait. There could be more.

Three flag football teams in Muscogee County start their GHSA state title quests with first-round playoff games on the road Dec. 5:

  • 2 p.m. Columbus at Mount Vernon
  • 4 p.m. Shaw at Ed Defore Sports Complex in Macon
  • 6:15 p.m. Northside at Long County

And in Harris County, the HCHS flag football team will host Rounds 1 and 2 of the state playoffs Dec. 5:

  • Round 1: Harris County vs. Central Macon at 4:30 p.m.; Hebron Christian vs. Savannah at 5:45 p.m.
  • Round 2: Winners of the Round 1 games at 7 p.m.
