The winner of the Ledger-Enquirer Fall Sports Girls Athlete of the Year poll is . . .
Anna Do of Pacelli is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Fall Sports Girls Athlete of the Year in the Columbus area.
Anna was a junior setter on Pacelli’s volleyball team this past season. Her teammates voted her as captain, and region coaches voted her as their Player of the Year. Her 801 assists this season ranked first in the Georgia Independent Athlete Association and 20th overall in the state.
The winners of each Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week poll during the 2024 fall sports season were eligible to be nominated by an official from their school.
Only L-E subscribers were allowed to vote in this end-of-season poll, and they could vote as many times as they wanted from Dec. 23 until noon Jan. 3.
Among the poll’s 10 nominees, Anna received 91% of the 91 votes. Here are the complete final results:
- Anna Do, Pacelli volleyball junior setter: 83 votes, 91%. Selected as captain by teammates and selected as region Player of the Year by coaches. Her 801 assists this season ranked first in GIAA and 20th overall in state.
- Angel McDaniel, Russell County volleyball senior outside hitter: 3 votes, 3%. Totaled 98 kills, 12 blocks and 31 aces in 18 games.
- Sloane Kaufman, Harris County volleyball junior libero: 2 votes, 2%. Honorable mention All-Region, second-team All-Valley. Led team in aces (55) and digs (283).
- Madalynn Cauley, Harris County JROTC Raider Team junior: 1 vote, 1%. Led Tigers to first place in 5K run and litter rescue, second place in fitness challenge and third place in tire flip and rope bridge at Area 5 state qualifier.
- Kyla Estes, Harris County volleyball junior hitter: 1 vote, 1%. Second-team All-Valley. Led team in kills (179) and blocks (29) with .105 H% and 139 digs.
- Lila Klein, Harris County cross country freshman: 1 vote, 1%. First-team All-Valley. PR of 19:19. Finished 10th in sectional race and 16th at state championships, leading Tigers to second place in Class AAAA of the Georgia High School Association.
- Lani Dansby, Harris County softball senior shortstop: 0 votes, 0%. 2 HRs in state championship game as Tigers won title. First-team All-State and All-Region. Georgia Dugout Club Senior All-Star. Batted .438 with .484 OBP, 46 hits, 8 2B, 4 HR, 20 SB, .963 fielding (3 errors all season).
- Baylee Hetzel, Harris County flag football sophomore rusher: 0 votes, 0%. Produced 55 flag pulls, 20 sacks, 42 hurries, 21 tackles for loss, 12 punts for 26.7 avg, with long of 40, in 21 games.
- Chloe Wolfenbarger, Harris County softball sophomore pitcher/DH: 0 votes, 0%. Compiled 12-2 pitching record with 1.54 ERA, 100 K, .184 OBA. Hit .314 with .388 OBP, 9 2B, 5 HR, 22 RBI.
- Isabella Zuerner, Harris County volleyball senior setter: 0 votes, 0%. Team captain, first-team All-Valley and second-team All-Region. Totaled 604 assists, 42 aces and 219 digs.
