The winner of the Ledger-Enquirer High School Athlete of the Week poll is . . .

Jariell Rivera of Kendrick is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.

Rivera is a junior on Kendrick’s wrestling team. He Won the 138-pound city championship Jan. 4 at Columbus High School. In the 144-pound class, he finished second at the Cavalier Classic and third at the Smiths Station Invitational this season, part of his 26-2 record.

We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate students for this poll.

Among this week’s three nominees, Rivera received 64% of the 7,558 votes from our readers. Voting started Tuesday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
