Daejeon Elder is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.

As a junior shortstop and pitcher on Harris County High School’s baseball team, Daejeon went a combined 6-for-10 with one double, five RBI, four runs, four stolen bases and one save in the Tigers’ season-opening wins over Columbus (4-3) and Marion County (14-2 and 8-2).

We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a male athlete for this poll.

Among this week’s two nominees, Daejeon received 69% of the 4,404 votes from our readers. Voting started Tuesday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
