The Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week poll winner is . . .

Taliyah Schreane is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.

As a senior on Shaw High School’s track & field team, Taliyah threw the shot put 40 feet-7 inches to set a new school record. She won the shot put and discus (109 feet) at the Columbus city championships for the third straight year.

We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a female athlete for this poll.

Among this week’s two nominees, Taliyah received 55% of the 1,616 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
