Taylor Horton is the Ledger-Enquirer Winter Sports High School Girls Athlete of the Year, based on our online poll.

She was a senior center midfielder for Northside High School’s girls soccer team. She produced 18 goals, 9 assists and 129 steals this past season, including hat tricks against Hardaway and Griffin. She signed a scholarship to play for Georgia College & Stat University.

As a four-year starter at Northside, Taylor totaled 49 goals, 38 assists and 400 steals. She was on the 2025 Georgia Athletic Coaches Association preseason all-state honorable mention List for Class AAAA in the Georgia High School Association.

Last season, Taylor was selected first-team All-Region and second-team All-Chattahoochee Valley. In 2023, she was named on the GACA All-State second team and the All-Chattahoochee Valley first team.

“She is easily one of our most talented players on the team, but her leadership is where she really shines,” Northside soccer coach Karissa Branch told the Ledger-Enquirer in an email. “Taylor’s leadership has been something that has upheld our standard of play for the last four years. She is often directing traffic on the pitch and will actively coach all our girls during practice.”

Taylor’s high intensity and confidence boost her teammates, Branch said.

“Her ability to see the field and make a very quick but effective decision on the field makes her such a quality center mid,” Branch said. “. . . Our entire team tries to match her energy as well as her efforts.”

Taylor’s technical and tactical skills also impress Branch.

“Her quality of play and passion for the game is unparalleled to her peers,” she said.
