The Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week poll winner is . . .
Holden Sanders is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
As a junior and the captain on the St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School boys cross country team, Holden set a personal record of 21:44 in the 5K Bob Blasto Invitational and contributed to the team’s second-place finish at the LaFayette Christian Invitational.
In an email to the Ledger-Enquirer, Pacelli cross country coach Maggi Horton said Holden has been a dedicated member of the since middle school “and continues to demonstrate outstanding leadership. He consistently shows up to every practice, giving his best effort while encouraging and motivating his teammates. Holden is not only a strong runner but also an exceptional teammate who leads by example.”
We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a male student for this poll.
Among this week’s seven nominees, Holden received 60% of the 7,968 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
