Jada Flournoy is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
As an eighth-grader on the Russell County High School flag football team, despite the Warriors losing 19-6 at home loss Sept. 24 to Opelika, Jada produced five receptions for 100 yards, six flag pulls and three pass breakups.
Through the first 10 games of the seasion, Jada led the team in receptions (27), receiving yards (507) and flag pulls (40). She also had five interceptions.
We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a female athlete for this poll.
Among this week’s seven nominees, Jada received 45% of the 12,719 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
