The Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week poll winner is . . .

Courtland Pellegrino is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.

He is a senior on the St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School swimming team. During the Nov. 13 Westfield School Fall Kickoff meet at the Tommy Stalnaker Aquatic Center in Warner Robins, Courtland won the 200 freestyle (2:06.62) and 100 backstroke (1:07.25). He also helped Pacelli win two relays (200 medley, 200 freestyle).

Other teams participating in the meet were from Tiftarea Academy, Brookstone, Mount de Sales Academy, Valwood, First Academy and The Westfield School.

“Courtland is a consistent leader in the pool and out of the water,” coach Kristin Turner told the Ledger-Enquirer in an email.

We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a male student for this poll.

Among this week’s five nominees, Courtland received 53% of the 3,290 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
