Bethanie Johnson is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
As a freshman on the St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School swimming team, Bethanie won the 200 individual medley and 1-meter diving competitions during the All-Valley Championships on Jan. 21 in the Columbus Aquatic Center.
Bethanie also helped her girls 400 freestyle relay team win a silver medal and her girls 200 freestyle relay team win a bronze medal. All of which contributed to Pacelli finish second among 10 teams from across the Chattahoochee Valley.
We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate students for this poll.
Among this week’s two nominees, Bethanie received 64% of the 2,067 votes from our readers. Voting started Tuesday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
