The Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week poll winner is . . .
Grace Rogers is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
As a senior on the St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School wrestling team, Grace became program’s first All-American by finishing third in the 152-pound weight class at the national prep championship Feb. 20-21 at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.
With three wrestlers competing in the girls division, Pacelli placed in the top 10 nationally among the more than 120 teams competing.
“Our girls stepped up on the national stage and proved they belonged among the nation’s elite,” Pacelli wrestling coach Adrian Anderson told the Ledger-Enquirer in an email.
We invited the athletic directors at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate an athlete for this poll.
Among this week’s four nominees, Grace received 60% of the 6,669 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
