The Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week poll winner is . . .
Cole Butera is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week, based on an online poll.
As a senior attacking midfielder on the St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School boys soccer team, Cole had one goal and seven assists in the first six games of this season.
“He helps create a lot of opportunities for us through his set piece deliveries and through the run of play,” coach Alex Ghoja told the Ledger-Enquirer in an email. “He also provides a bunch of energy for us in the defensive phase of play and leads through his actions on the field. Cole is a very influential player for us as well as one of our captains this year.”
We invited the athletic directors at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a student for this poll.
Among this week’s four nominees, Cole received 55% of the 5,825 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
