The Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week poll winner is …

A’Nyzhon “Bam” Purnell is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.

As a sophomore guard on the Chattahoochee County High School boys basketball team, Bam was selected as Region Defensive Player of the Year. He finished the season ranked among the top 10 in the state in steals (4.5 per game). He also averaged 16 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds per game on a team that went 29-2 and made it to the GHSA Class A Final Four.

We invited the athletic directors at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a student for this poll.

Among this week’s three nominees, Bam received 62% of the 2,514 votes from our readers. Voting started Tuesday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
