Sophia Oyster is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
As a freshman forward on the Northside High School girls soccer team, Sophia produced 22 goals and seven assists — including hat tricks against Central-Phenix City, Griffin, Mundy’s Mill, Glenwood and Jonesboro — during this season’s first 11 games.
We invited the athletic directors at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate an athlete for the poll.
Among this week’s two nominees, Sophia received 69% of the 6,779 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
