The L-E High School Girls Winter Sports Athlete of the Year poll winner is . . .

Beatrice Suomie is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Winter Sports Athlete of the Year for the Columbus area, based on our online poll.

As a senior on the Jordan Vocational High School wrestling team, Beatrice won her second straight city, area, section and state championship. She also won every tournament she entered in the 190-pound weight class this season.

The winners of each Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week poll during the 2025-26 winter sports season were eligible to be nominated by an official from their school.

Voting was open from March 30 to April 10 at noon. Participants in the poll could vote as many times as they wanted. They didn’t have to be a subscriber to vote, but subscribers could vote more often.

Among this poll’s seven nominees, Beatrice received 62% of the 102 votes. Here are the complete final results:
