The L-E High School Boys Winter Sports Athlete of the Year poll winner is . . .

Jariell Rivera is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Winter Sports Athlete of the Year for the Columbus area, based on our online poll.

As a senior on the Kendrick High School wrestling team, Jariell won the 144-pound weight class state, section, area and city championships. He went undefeated in 43 matches this season, including 25 pins, eight tech falls and four major decisions. He also won the Gauntlet in the Grey, Smiths Station and Callaway tournaments.

The winners of each Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week poll during the 2025-26 winter sports season were eligible to be nominated by an official from their school.

Voting was open from March 30 to April 10 at noon. Participants in the poll could vote as many times as they wanted. They didn’t have to be a subscriber to vote, but subscribers could vote more often.

Among this poll’s nine nominees, Beatrice received 68% of the 3,084 votes. Here are the complete final results:
