Pacelli defeats Mount de Sales 35-17 in first game for coach Alan Griffin
Pacelli dropped Mount de Sales 35-17 in its season-opener on Friday night on the road, giving coach Alan Griffin his first win as a head football coach.
Ben Davis had over 200 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns in the game to lead the Vikings, but a second-quarter touchdown by Trevor Robichaux may have been the biggest of the game, Griffin said.
With the score tied at 14-14 with just over a minute left before halftime, Robichaux caught a 40-yard pass from quarterback Tre Sudberry to put the Vikings in front 21-14 at the break.
“That was huge for us to have a lead going into halftime,” Griffin said. “That was probably the biggest play of the game.”
Sudberry added a rushing touchdown and Avery Ross scored the other touchdown for the Vikings.
The Vikings defense allowed just a single field goal in the second half to finish out the victory.
Pacelli will play its second of three road games to open the season next Friday at Seminole County, a team it beat 21-7 last season.
Pacelli (1-0) plays at Seminole County Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
