Closer look at Friday night's games

HARDAWAY VS. JORDAN

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Kinnett Stadium

Records: Hardaway 1-1. Jordan 0-1.

Last week: Hardaway beat Chattahoochee County 33-30. Jordan was idle.

Series: Hardaway leads 34-7, but Jordan won 32-12 last season. That ended a streak of 11 straight wins in the series by Hardaway.

You should know: Hardaway ended a 19-game losing streak with its win last week. Hardaway's Marco Lee has rushed for 250 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan lost 37-25 to Columbus two weeks ago. Jordan QB Romello Kimbrough rushed for 103 yards and passed for 75 more.

COLUMBUS AT BROOKSTONE

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Rex Knight Stadium

Records: Columbus 1-0. Brookstone 0-1.

Last week: Columbus was idle. Brookstone was idle.

Series: Brookstone leads 3-0, including a 23-14 win last year.

You should know: Columbus beat Jordan 37-25 in its opener two weeks ago. Brookstone opened two weeks ago with a 27-21 loss to Mount Pisgah in overtime.

SHAW AT AMERICUS-SUMTER

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Finklea-Robinson Stadium.

Records: Shaw 1-1. Americus-Sumter 0-2.

Last week: Shaw lost 45-0 to Northgate. Americus-Sumter lost 48-33 to Macon County.

Series: Shaw leads 1-0 with a 24-20 win at Kinnett Stadium last season.

You should know: Shaw opened with a 39-14 win over Luella before losing to Northgate. Shaw QB B.J. Knight was held to less than 100 yards in passing by Northgate. Americus-Sumter lost its opener 41-13 to Smiths Station.

CARVER AT CREEKSIDE

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Arrowhead Stadium, Fairburn, Ga.

Records: Carver 2-0. Creekside 2-0.

Last week: Carver beat Spencer 21-7. Creekside beat Langston Hughes 30-7.

Series: Creekside leads 1-0 with a 29-27 victory last season.

You should know: Creekside won a shootout over Carver at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium last season. Creekside took over the game in the second half after a two-hour lightning delay at halftime. Will Rogers is 2-0 in his first season at Creekside. Rogers took over for Olten Downs, a former Shaw High player and Carver assistant coach, who left to become a member of the University of Georgia support staff.

PACELLI AT SEMINOLE COUNTY

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Seminole Stadium, Donalsonville,, Ga.

Records: Pacelli 1-0. Seminole County 0-0.

Last week: Pacelli beat Mount de Sales 35-17. Seminole County was idle.

Series: Pacelli leads 2-1 after a 21-7 victory last season.

You should know: Ben davis rushed for more than 200 yards and two touchdowns for Pacelli in the win over Mount de Sales.

CALVARY CHRISTIAN AT THOMAS JEFFERSON

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Memorial Stadium, Manchester, Ga.

Records: Calvary Christian 2-0. Thomas Jefferson 2-0.

Last week: Calvary Christian beat Fullington Academy 37-0. Thomas Jefferson beat Dawson Christian 53-32.

Series: This will be the first meeting.

You should know: Jacquez Green has rushed for 280 yards and three touchdowns, while Anthony Santiago has rushed for 256 yards and four scores for Calvary.

WESTSIDE-MACON AT HARRIS COUNTY

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Tiger Stadium, Hamilton, Ga.

Records: Westside-Macon 1-0. Harris County 0-1.

Last week: Westside-Macon beat Rutland 38-19. Harris County lost 45-6 to Central.

Series: Westside-Macon leads 3-0 with a 35-29 victory last season.

You should know: Maurice Fears scored Harris County's lone touchdown in the loss to Central.

CHATTAHOOCHEE COUNTY AT CALHOUN COUNTY

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Edison, Ga.

Records: Chattahoochee County 0-1. Calhoun County 0-2.

Last week: Chattahoochee County lost 33-30 to Hardaway. Calhoun County lost 53-6 to Dougherty.

Series: Chattahoochee County leads 2-1, but Calhoun County won 20-15 last season.

You should know: Cory Dixon scored three touchdowns for Chattahoochee County in the loss to Hardaway. He returned a kick for a score and caught two TD passes from QB C.J. Afoa. Calhoun County has given up 53 points in both of its losses and has been outscored 106-14.

TAYLOR COUNTY AT MANCHESTER

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Memorial Stadium, Manchester, Ga.

Records: Taylor County 0-1. Manchester 0-1.

Last week: Taylor County lost 35-34 to East Laurens. Manchester lost 33-7 to Charlton County.

Series: Manchester leads 8-1 with a 32-22 win last season.

You should know: Last season's game was the first meeting of the two schools since 1997.

CENTRAL AT AUBURN

When: 8 p.m. Friday

Where: Duck Samford Stadium, Auburn, Ala.

Records: Central 1-1, 0-0 Class 7A Region 2. Auburn 1-1, 0-0.

Last week: Central beat Harris County 45-6. Auburn lost 31-30 to Opelika.

Series: Central leads 32-14-3 with a 47-17 win last season.

You should know: Ravaughn Turner ran for two touchdowns to lead Central last week. Quan Weaver ran for a score and threw for another. Auburn quarterback Bradley Northcutt accounted for three scores, two passing and one running.

R.E LEE at SMITHS STATION

When: 8 p.m. Friday

Where: Panther Stadium, Smiths Station, Ala.

Records: R.E. Lee 2-0, 0-0 Class 7A Region 2. Smiths Station 2-0, 0-0.

Last week: R.E. Lee beat Carver-Montgomery 34-13. Smiths Station beat Dothan 31-28,

Series: Smiths Station leads 5-0 with a 35-19 win last season.

You should know: Smiths Station plays its first home game after winning at Americus-Sumter and at Dothan. Quarterback Dalton Sinquefield has throws for 420 yards and three touchdowns. He has also run for 239 yards and four scores.

RUSSELL COUNTY AT WETUMPKA

When: 8 p.m. Friday

Where: Hohenburg Field, Wetumpka, Ala.

Records: Russell County 0-1, 0-0 Class 6A Region 2. Wetumpka 0-2, 0-0.

Last week: Russell County lost 61-6 to Eufaula. Wetumpka lost 20-14 to Huffman.

Series: Wetumpka leads 8-3 with a 27-6 win last season.

You should know: Russell County has lost 13 straight, while Wetumpka has lost five in a row.

GLENWOOD AT EDGEWOOD

When: 8 p.m. Friday

Where: Edgewood Stadium, Elmore, Ala.

Records: Glenwood 1-0. Edgewood 2-0.

Last week: Glenwood beat Sherwood 68-0. Edgewood beat Coosa Valley 68-8.

Series: Glenwood leads 11-7, but Edgewood won 48-7 last season.

You should know: Latavious Coleman led Glenwood with 126 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns. Edgewood has won five straight AISA Class 2A state championships.
