Five second-half turnovers doom Harris County in loss to Westside

HAMILTON, Ga. -- After trailing 16-7 at the half Harris County scored a field goal to pull within one score on its opening possession before five second-half turnovers doomed the comeback attempt and gave the Seminoles a 30-10 victory Friday night at Tiger Stadium.

Austin Thompson returned a pooch kick 75 yards, setting Harris County up with first-and-goal at the Westside-Macon 5-yard line. The Tigers lost 4 yards in three plays before calling on Jacob Crumbley, who booted a 26-yard field goal to pull Harris County to within 6 at 16-10.

The Tiger defense forced a punt and Harris County again had good field position at its own 40-yard line.

The turnover fest began as the Tigers lost the ball to end its next four possessions.

A failed snap was recovered by Tradonis Causey at the Tiger 41. Four plays later Savion Knowlton found Gerimie Mitchell for a 25-yard score over the Tiger defense and a 23-10 score.

Maurice Fears was knocked upside down on the next Harris County possession losing the ball in the collision.

Defensive lineman Kareem Warren scooped the fumble and scored from 27 yards out for the final score of the game.

Causey returned the next Tiger fumble 77 yards for an apparent score that was called back for a block in the back.

The Tigers forced a Seminole punt on its first possession of the game.

Harris County drove from its 31-yard line across midfield before Chandler Lott was intercepted by Diesel StCyr, who returned it 42-yards.

Blaine Halvorson opened the scoring at 3-0 for the Seminoles with a 23-yard field goal.

The Seminoles drove 41 yards in only two plays and scored when Knowlton again found Mitchell on a 38-yard pass and a 9-0 lead.

Mitchell ended the game with 82 yards receiving on 4 receptions.

The Tigers answered with a 70-yard, 4-play drive and pulled to within 9-7 on a 17-yard run from Bubba Blackmon. Blackmon led the Tigers with 48-yards rushing on 6 carries.
