Closer look at Friday's high school football games
JORDAN VS. CENTRAL-MACON
When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Kinnett Stadium
Records: Jordan 1-1, 0-0 Region 2-AAA. Central-Macon 1-1, 0-0.
Last week: Jordan beat Hardaway 41-33. Central-Macon lost 30-29 to Howard.
Series: Central-Macon leads 3-0, including a 25-7 victory in Macon last season. The two games before that took place in 1970 and 1971.
You should know: Jordan quarterback Romello Kimbrough has completed 18-of-38 passes for 315 yards and five touchdowns. He has also rushed for 239 yards and four scores. Jim Brown is in his fourth season at Jordan. He has been building the program with records of 0-10, 2-8, and 3-7 in the past three seasons. Jesse Hicks is in his fourth season at Central-Macon. After 2-8 and 1-9 seasons, he led the Chargers to the state playoffs last season after a 5-5 regular-season.
KENDRICK VS. JACKSON
When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium
Records: Kendrick 1-1, 0-0 Region 2-AAA. Jackson 1-1, 0-0.
Last week: Kendrick was idle. Jackson beat Monticello 28-0.
Series: Jackson leads 1-0 with a 40-2 victory last season.
You should know: Kendrick beat Stewart County 31-0 in its opener, then lost 35-0 to Northside two weeks ago. Jackson lost its opener in overtime, 28-21 to Mary Persons.
TROUP AT HARRIS COUNTY
When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Tiger Stadium, Hamilton, Ga.
Records: Troup 0-2. Harris County 0-2.
Last week: Troup lost 56-6 to Northgate. Harris County lost 30-10 to Westside-Macon.
Series: Troup leads 26-4-1, but Harris County has won the last two meetings -- 28-21 last season and 10-6 in 2007.
You should know: Troup opened the season with a 35-7 loss to LaGrange. Tanner Glisson is off to an 0-2 start at Troup. He coached the previous two seasons at Manchester, going 10-11 (7-4 and 3-7). Harris County opened its season with a 45-6 loss to Central.
HARDAWAY AT CENTRAL-CARROLLTON
When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Roy Richards Memorial Stadium, Carrollton, Ga.
Records: Hardaway 1-2. Central-Carrollton 2-0.
Last week: Hardaway lost to Jordan 41-33. Central-Carrollton beat B.E.S.T. Academy 33-12.
Series: Central-Carrollton leads 1-0, with a 55-0 victory last season.
You should know: Hardaway broke a 19-game losing streak with a win over Chattahoochee County two weeks ago. Central-Carrollton beat Bowdon 14-0 to open the season.
PACELLI AT CENTRAL-TALBOTTON
When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Roy Richards Memorial Stadium, Carrollton, Ga.
Records: Pacelli 2-0, 0-0 Region 4-A. Central-Talbotton 2-0, 0-0.
Last week: Pacelli beat Seminole County 28-20. Central-Talbotton was idle.
Series: Pacelli leads 23-10 with three straight wins, including 49-6 last season.
You should know: This will be the end of a three-game road trip to open the season for Pacelli. Pacelli opened its season with a 35-17 win over Mount de Sales. Quarterback Tre Sudberry has completed 13-of-23 passes for 205 yards and three touchdowns. Ben Davis leads the Vikings with 207 yards rushing and three scores. Central-Talbotton beat Baconton Charter 28-26 and Crawford County 30-21 to open the season. Central-Talbotton also started last season 2-0 before losing eight straight to end the year.
DOOLY COUNTY AT MARION COUNTY
When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Eagle Stadium, Buena Vista, Ga.
Records: Dooly County 1-0, 0-0 Region 4-A. Marion County 1-0, 0-0.
Last week: Dooly County lost 50-6 to Turner County. Marion County was idle.
Series: Marion County leads 5-1 with five straight wins, including 40-19 last season.
You should know: Dooly County opened the season with a 32-8 win over Wilcox County. Marion County opened its season two weeks ago with a 40-6 win over Miller County.
SMITHS STATION AT PRATTVILLE
When: 8 p.m.
Where: Stanley Jensen Field, Prattville, Ala.
Records: Smiths Station 3-0, 1-0 Class 7A Region 2. Prattville 2-0, 0-0.
Last week: Smiths Station beat R.E. Lee 31-14. Prattville beat Gulfport (Miss.) 21-16.
Series: Prattville leads 2-0, including a 48-0 win at Smiths Station last season. The only other meeting came in the first round of the 2008 playoffs, a 55-19 Prattville win.
You should know: Smiths Station beat Americus-Sumter 41-13 and Dothan 31-28 to open the season. Prattville also has a 35-12 victory over Stanhope Elmore this season.
RUSSELL COUNTY AT CARROLL-OZARK
When: 8 p.m.
Where: Matthews Stadium, Ozark, Ala.
Records: Russell County 0-2, 0-1 Class 6A Region 2. Carroll-Ozark 0-2, 0-1.
Last week: Russell County lost 52-13 to Wetumpka. Carroll-Ozark lost 30-27 to Carver-Montgomery.
Series: Carroll-Ozark leads 12-5, including a 28-20 win last season. Russell County's last win was 19-15 two years ago.
You should know: This is the last of three straight road games Russell County has to open the season. The home opener is next week against Northview. The Warriors have lost 14 straight dating back to a 35-0 win over BTW on Oct. 25, 2013.
GLENWOOD AT KINGWOOD
When: 8 p.m.
Where: Ron Cox Field, Alabaster, Ala.
Records: Glenwood 1-1, 0-0 AISA Class AAA Region 2. Kingwood 0-2, 0-2
Last week: Glenwood lost 61-0 to Edgewood. Kingwood lost 55-7 to Bessemer Academy.
Series: Glenwood leads 8-1, including a 13-6 win last season. Kingwood's lone win came 69-49 two years ago.
You should know: Glenwood opened the season two weeks ago with a 68-0 win over Sherwood. Latavious Coleman rushed for 136 yards in Glenwood"s first two games, but he left the Edgewood game with an arm injury.
