Glenwood shuts down Lakeside in 2nd half

Eufaula, Ala. -- Glenwood spotted Lakeside 10 first-quarter points before roaring back and handing the home-standing Chiefs their first loss of the season with a 28-17 score here Friday night.

Last week's touchdown star, Brandon Moseley, started the comeback as he reduced the 10-0 deficit with a 4-yard run early in the second quarter to cut the lead to 10-7. However, the Chiefs got a 70-yard kickoff return following the TD, and Ryeshon Hall scored on a 5-yard run to make it 17-7. It would be the last score of the night for Lakeside.

The Gators marched 80 yards just before half, and Carrington Huddleston threw his first TD pass of the year to Quan Holt at 11 yards just before the half.

Following a fumbled punt return, Noah Lake fell on the ball in the end zone and gave Glenwood a 21-17 lead it never relinquished. In fact, the Gator defense did not allow a score in the second half.

Moseley iced the game when he scored his second touchdown with 2:09 to play. Moseley finished the contest with 128 yards rushing, his second game over the 100-yard mark. Huddleston also had his best offensive game of the year as he passed for 109 yards and the TD and ran for 107 more.

Part of the offensive problem was the loss of the Chiefs' running back Desmond Richards. He scored the first Lakeside TD on a 93-yard run in the first period but was injured in the second period and did not return to the game.

Without him, Lakeside faltered. Richards had 113 of Lakeside's 182-yard total rushing in the game, all in the first half.

The Gators will host archrival Lee-Scott Sept. 25th.
