Brookstone gains first win of Scott Pethtel era

HAWKINSVILLE, Ga. -- Josh Long and D'Andrez Dashiell ran for touchdowns Friday night as Brookstone defeated defending Class A-public champion Hawkinsville 14-0.
The win was the first for Brookstone coach Scott Pethtel. Long scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter. Matt Taich kicked the extra point for a 7-0 lead that held up at the half.
D'Andrez Dashiell added a 20-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter and Taich converted to make the final 14-0.
On defense, Frank Waldrep had an interception at the 50-yard line on Hawkinsville opening drive in the first quarter.
Brookstone (1-2, 1-0) plays at Greenville Friday at 7:30 p.m. Hawkinsville (2-2, 1-1) plays at Central-Talbotton Friday.
