Late Friday: Ricky Williams scores late TD to left Kendrick over Rutland

MACON, Ga. -- Kendrick's Ricky Williams scored on a 14-yard run with 1:36 left in Friday night's game at Rutland. He then added the 2-point conversion on a run to give the Cherokees a 20-18 victory.

The Cherokees (2-2, 1-1 Region 2-AAA) had rallied from a 10-0 deficit to take a 12-10 lead midway through the fourth quarter.

But Rutland's Desmond King took the ball out of the hands of the Kendrick QB before he could hand off. King rumbled 88 yards for the score. The Hurricanes (1-3, 0-2) made the 2-point conversion for an 18-12 lead.

Kayleen Bonds scored Kendrick's first touchdown with 8:59 left in the third quarter. William walker scored in the fourth quarter to give the Cherokees the 12-10 lead.

Bonds led the Cherokees with 125 yards rushing on 11 carries. Walker had 79 on 14 carries. Walter Boze had 67 on six carries. Kendrick finished the game with 306 yards rushing.

Kendrick plays Westside-Macon at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium on Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
