High school softball roundup: Brookstone scores late to edge Marion County

Pinch-runner Deme Courtney scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Brookstone a 2-1 victory over Marion County in a Region 4-A game on Thursday afternoon.

Marion County had tied the game in the top of the inning, scoring on an error.

Brookstone scored its first run in the bottom of the second. Naeisha McClain tripled to lead off. Taylor Roos followed with a single to drive McClain in.

Brookstone remains the only unbeaten team in the region. The Lady Cougars are also the top-ranked team in the latest Class A-private school power rankings.Thursday at Brookstone
