Visiting Westside-Macon blanks Kendrick
Westside-Macon cruised to a 42-0 win over Kendrick Friday night at AJ McClung Memorial Stadiu.m..
The score and winner of the Region 2-AAA matchup were the same as last year.
The visiting Seminoles smothered Kendrick on defense and scored often on offense and raised their record to 5-0, 3-0 in region.
After going 2-1 on the road, Kendrick is now 0-2 in Columbus, 2-3 overall and 1-2 in region.
Westside's quarterback Savion Knowlton passed for three touchdowns to lead the Seminoles offensively. He completed 12-of-23 passes for 155 yards.
Knowlton's first touchdown pass came in the second quarter, a 23-yarder to Gerimie Mitchell. That put Westside up 21-0.
Later in the quarter, Knowlton passed to Steve Dolphus for a 1-yard touchdown that gave the Seminoles a 28-0 lead at halftime.
On Kendrick's first series of the second half, Westside's Tavores Pearson Jr. intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown, making the score 35-0.
Later in the third quarter, Knowlton completed his third touchdown pass of 25 yards to Ty'gee Cunningham, and the Seminoles led 42-0.
A running clock began in the fourth quarter.
