Lee-Scott shuts out Glenwood

Lee-Scott took full advantage of six Glenwood turnovers, four lost fumbles and two interceptions that set up 24 of the Warriors' points en route to a 38-0 shutout of the Gators Friday night at Sammy Howard field.

The Gators' Quan Holt fumbled the ball away on their second offensive play after an 18-yard run. Eight plays later, Lee-Scott's leading rusher, Mitchell Lewis scored from the two to make it 7-0 and a lead that was never relinquished.

An interception by quarterback Carrington Huddleston resulted in the Warriors' second touchdown and again it was Mitchell for Lee Scott, scoring from the three.

Mitchell was the Warrior rushing workhorse in the game and despite being stopped four times for no gain, wound up with 79 yards on 17 runs in the first half alone. He finished with 152 yards on 26 carries and three rushing TDs.

Mitchell also was responsible for the most exciting play for Lee-Scott when he took a lateral from quarterback Turk Pettitt and passed to a wide open Ben Ruffin for a 46-yard touchdown in the second period.

Only 30 seconds later, Glenwood fumbled again and Pettit found Caleb Kennefick for a 31-yard TD pass. The ball was tipped by Glenwood's Carson Allison but Kennefick caught the ball and fell in the second zone for another score.

Another fumble by Huddleston was recovered by the Warriors' Ruffin and on the last play of the half Bo Dean kicked a 42-yard field goal and a 31-0 lead.

Mitchell scored the final TD in the third quarter on a 2-yard run. His 39-yard run set up the score and it was the final touchdown of the night in the game.

The fourth quarter was played with a running clock. Glenwood also had three players injured in the game, Brandon Moseley, the team's leading rusher, Quan Holt and Carson Allison. Only Allison returned to the contest.

Moseley finished as the leading rusher as he had 47 yards on nine runs.
