Smothers scores four TDs in Marion County win over Schley County

BUENA VISTA, Ga. -- Lorenzo Smothers scored four touchdowns -- three on passes from Quentez Battle -- as Marion County routed Schley County 46-0 on Friday night at Eagle Stadium.

Mykelle Kelley led the Eagles in rushing with 158 yards on eight carries. He scored a pair of touchdowns, one on a 57-yard run and another on a 16-yard run.

Battle finished 6-of-10 passing for 132 yards and the three touchdowns.

Smothers' four touchdowns came on the only four times Smothers touched the ball on offense. He opened the scoring with a 50-yard TD run with 10:40 left in the first quarter.

After Kelley scored from 57 yards out for a 14-0 lead, Smothers caught a 24-yard TD pass from Battle. He caught a 15-yarder from battle to close out the first quarter with a 27-0 lead.

Smothers and Battle hooked up for the final time on a 35-yard scoring pass with 10:04 left in the second quarter. Kelley gave the Eagles a 40-0 lead with his 16-yard TD.
