High school roundup: Columbus clinches area volleyball title
Columbus clinched the Class AAAAA Area 1 regular-season title with a pair of 2-0 wins over Carver and Hardaway on Tuesday.
Shardonee Hayes had 12 kills, six aces and two blocks to lead Columbus. Madison Fleming added 40 assists, six digs, three kills and two aces.Tuesday at Columbus

NORTHSIDE WINS TWICE
Northside clinched second in Class AAAAA Area 1 with a pair of wins on Tuesday, 2-1 over Harris County and 2-0 over Shaw.
Morganne Harper led Northside with 79 assists, eight kills and four digs.

BROOKSTONE 1, HAWKINSVILLE 0
HAWKINSVILLE, Ga. -- Katherine Snavely drove in the only run and Helen Snavely pitched a complete-game shutout as Brookstone beat Hawkinsville 1-0 on Tuesday.
The lone run of the game came in the top of the fifth inning. Haley Johnson singled with one out. Marty Laughbaum followed with a single, which allowed Johnson to get to third base.
Katherine Snavely followed with a sacrifice fly, scoring Johnson.
Helen Snavely allowed just two hits and struck out 13.
The two teams meet again Thursday at Brookstone.Tuesday at Hawkinsville
