Bubba Blackmon scored four TDs as Harris County beats Hardaway
Harris County's Bubba Blackmon scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and the Tiger defense forced two key fumbles as they shut out Hardaway 49-0 Thursday night at Kinnett Stadium.
Hardaway had just captured its second first down after the opening kickoff when Harris County's Tek Kalish recovered a fumble and gave the Tigers a short field. Three plays later, Blackmon went 36 yards for a 7-0 lead.
Blackmon set up the Tigers' second touchdown when he broke a 60-yard run later in the first that was followed by Jesse Williams' TD to make it 14-0. Blackmon then put the game out of reach when he scored on a 2-yard run after Rico Dunn recovered a Hawk fumble on the 31-yard line.
The next time Blackmon touched the ball, it was a 61-yard TD to make the score 28-0 with 18 seconds left in the first period.
Blackmon's numbers in the first half were eye-opening as he had seven carries for 182 yards and three scores.
The final first half Tiger score came on another Hardaway miscue. On a fourth and 21, the ball was snapped over punter Freddie Zamudio's head and he fell on the ball at the seven, giving Harris County the ball on downs. Two plays later it was 35-0 in favor of the Tigers as Maurice Fears scored.
The second half was played with a running clock and Blackmon got another TD on a 2-yard run before retiring for the night. He finished with 190 yards on 10 runs. Alex Hicks' 9-yard run in the fourth rounded out the scoring for the Tigers.
Marco Lee was the Hawks mainstay on offense. He carried the ball for 68 yards on 16 carries and caught the only completion of the night for 4 yards.
