High school football: Closer look at Saturday's games

SPENCER VS. JACKSON

When: 3 p.m.

Where: Kinnett Stadium

Records: Spencer 2-3, 1-2 Region 2-AAA. Jackson 4-1, 3-0.

Last week: Spencer beat Southwest-Macon 35-0. Jackson beat Westside-Macon 31-29.

Series: Jackson won the only meeting, 42-13, last season.

You need to know: In both of its wins this season, Spencer has shut out its opponent. With its win last week, Jackson turned the region race into a three-team battle. The Jackson-Peach County game later this season could determine the region champion.

JORDAN VS. WESTSIDE-MACON

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Kinnett Stadium

Records: Jordan 2-4, 1-3 Region 2-AAA. Westside-Macon 5-1, 3-1.

Last week: Jordan beat Rutland 35-18. Westside-Macon lost 31-29 to Jackson.

Series: Westside-Macon won the only meeting, 36-7, last season.

You need to know: Jordan quarterback Romello Kimbrough has passed for 963 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has added 600 yards and nine scores on the ground.

CARVER AT LAGRANGE

When: 8 p.m.

Where: Callaway Stadium, LaGrange, Ga.

Records: Carver 4-1, 1-0 Region 1-AAAAA. LaGrange 3-3, 1-1.

Last week: Carver was idle. LaGrange lost 21-13 to Columbus.

Series: LaGrange leads 8-7, but the Tigers have won the last six and 7-of-8. Carver won 56-31 last season.

You need to know: With Northside idle this week, Carver can climb into a tie with the Patriots at 2-0 in the region.
