Shaw RB Sydarrian Cobb earns Sunday Best honor
Bi-City running backs had an extremely productive week, even more productive than they have been all year.
None had as big a performance in as big a game as Shaw's Sydarrian Cobb in a 34-24, potentially season-saving win. The win put Shaw firmly in the playoff picture, while a loss would have left it with a lot of work to do.
Cobb rushed 25 times in the game for 239 yards and two touchdowns. For his efforts, he is the Sunday Best top performer.
Here's a look at the rest of the week's top performances.
Bubba Blackmon, Harris County, RB: Rushed 10 times for 190 yards and four touchdowns in a 49-0 win over Hardaway to move to 1-1 in region play.
Dalton Sinquefield, Smiths Station, QB: Turned in a huge performance, going 22-of-32 for 284 yards and three touchdowns passing to go with a rushing touchdown in a 29-26 win over Jeff Davis that helped the Panthers' playoff hopes.
K.J. Johnson, Smiths Station, RB: Johnson, too, had a big performance, rushing for 160 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries.
Marion County defense: There was a lot of strong defense around the area over the weekend, but perhaps none was as impressive as Marion County's, which shut out Brookstone 40-0 and allowed just 24 total yards (14 rushing and 10 passing).
Pacelli defense: The Vikings weren't quite as stingy as Marion County, but they did score a shutout of their own and recorded three takeaways. Tanner Hall had two fumble recoveries and Mikal Marble had an interception.
Carrington Huddleston, Glenwood, QB: Huddleston rushed 20 times for 144 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-34 loss to Tuscaloosa Academy.

Khalil Thomas, Spencer, QB: Thomas completed 18-of-21 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns in the 34-14 win over Jackson. He also ran in for a score.
Daymontea White, Spencer, WR/DB: In his second game back from an injury, he caught a pass for a score and ran back an interception for a TD.
Markus Wright, Jordan, LB: Wright returned an interception 34 yards for a touchdown in Jordan's loss to Westside-Macon.
Jawon Pass, Carver, QB: Pass completed 15 of 28 passes for 292 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for 119 yards, two touchdowns and two 2-point conversions.
Carver wide receivers: Jacobi Cunningham recorded four catches for 120 yards and a touchdown and Gerald Reid had four catches for 131 yards and a touchdown. Us Beasley and Jaquaze Gaines both added touchdown catches in the come-from-behind win.
Javontay Smith and Kobe Hatcher, Carver defenders: Despite the Carver defense allowing 50 points in a 51-50 win, Smith and Hatcher made key plays that proved differential. Hatcher had an interception and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Smith made a touchdown-saving tackle inches from the goal line to end the first half and recovered a fumble late in the third quarter.
