High school football: Closer look at Saturday's games

KENDRICK VS. JORDAN

When: 3 p.m.

Where: Kinnett Stadium

Records: Kendrick 2-4, 1-3 Region 2-AAA. Jordan 2-5, 1-4.

Last week: Kendrick lost 35-12 to Peach County. Jordan lost 420-21 to Westside-Macon.

Series: Kendrick leads 37-6 with four straight wins, including a 24-6 victory last season.

You need to know: Kendrick still has an outside chance at earning a playoff bid, but the Cherokees must sweep their last three games.

CARVER VS. SHAW

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Kinnett Stadium

Records: Carver 5-1, 2-0 Region 1-AAAAA. Shaw 4-3, 2-1.

Last week: Carver beat LaGrange 51-50. Shaw beat Columbus 34-24.

Series: Carver leads 18-12 with six straight wins, including 32-16 last season. Shaw's last win was in the state semifinals in 2006 at the Georgia Dome.

You need to know: Carver is a half-game behind Northside (3-0) for the top spot in the region. Those teams meet on Oct. 30. Carver rallied from a 28-0 deficit to beat LaGrange last week.
