Kimbrough accounts for four TDs in Jordan's shutout of Kendrick

Jordan turned two Kendrick turnovers into points in the first quarter, and the Red Jackets rode their defense and the play of quarterback Romello Kimbrough to shut out the Cherokees 41-0 Saturday afternoon at Kinnett Stadium.

The victory broke a string of four straight Cherokee wins in the series and improved Jordan's record to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in Region 2-AAA play. Kendrick dropped to 2-5 and 1-4.

On the third Kendrick play from scrimmage, Jaden Jordan jumped in front of a William Walker pass for an interception and ran it 31 yards to the Kendrick 9-yrad line. Three plays later, Kimbrough went up the middle for a 7-0 lead Jordan never relinquished.

On the next Red Jacket series, Jordan drove 64 yards in 11 plays and it was Kimbrough again scoring from 10 yards out. After the kickoff to Kendrick, the Cherokees fumbled an exchange and Tim Banks fell on the ball and Jordan was in business again from the 14.

Three plays later Kapatrick Rogers scored to make it 21-0.

Kimbrough was responsible for the Jackets' final first half score when he hit D'Andre Snead on a wide open pass and he ran it in from 44 yards to make it 28-0 at intermission.

Kimbrough scored his third rushing TD on a 12-yard scamper in the third and Dontez Scott also scored from 38 yards out in the third and the final period was played with a running clock with the Red Jackets ahead 41-0.

Kimbrough finished with 102 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the ground and 89 yards passing and another score to pace Jordan's offense. Scott had 89 yards on the ground and Rogers added 87 as Jordan spread the carries around.

The Cherokees had two kick returns by Walter Boze of 50 yards and 46 yards, but both drives stalled inside the 20 as the Red Jacket defense stiffened to keep the shutout.
