Game times set for volleyball, softball playoffs

Game times have been set for most of the high school volleyball and softball playoffs for next week.

in Alabama, teams are playing in area tournaments on Monday and Tuesday.

Central and Auburn meet in the first game of the Class 7A Area 3 tournament at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The winner will take No. 1 seed and host Smiths Station at 6:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Russell County plays Opelika at 3 p.m. in the Class 6A Area 4 tournament. Top seed and host Benjamin Russell and Valley meet in the other semifinals. The winners meet at 4:30 p.m. for the area title.

Each area's winner and runner-up will compete in the South Super Regional in Montgomery starting on Thursday.

Meanwhile, schools in Georgia move into the second round of the state tournaments Tuesday. Columbus will be at home in the Class AAAAA tournament against Evans at 5 p.m. Also in AAAAA, Harris County will play at Grovetown at 5:30 p.m.

In AAA, Kendrick will play at Sonoraville at 5 p.m.

The second-round winners will play in the state quarterfinals Saturday.

The Class AAAAA state softball tournament heads into the second round Wednesday. Northside will be at home for a doubleheader starting at 4, while Harris County will be at Chapel Hill starting at 5.

The Class A-private school tournament starts its first round Wednesday. Top seed Brookstone hosts No. 16 seed Landmark Christian. Game time has not been announced.
