Calvary Christian wins GICAA state volleyball championship

SUWANEE, Ga. -- Calvary Christian won the third state volleyball championship in the school's history with a 3-1 victory over Community Christian on Saturday.

The Knights (22-7) won 26-28, 25-21, 25-22, 25-18 in the GICAA final at the Suwanee Sports Complex.

Calvary also won state title in 2008 and 2011.

Earlier in the state tournament, the Knights beat Killian 25-13, 25-18, 25-15 and Harvester 25-16, 25-14, 25-23.

Leah Roper led the Knights with 62 assists, 13 digs, 11 aces and nine kills. MaCayla Clements had 39 kills and 13 digs.

Tessa Burns had 33 kills and 23 digs. Morgan Osbourne had 43 digs.

Mikayla Eldridge had 35 assists and 10 digs. Carsyn Dyer had 14 kills and five blocks.

The final match was a rematch of last year's final, which Community Christian won.
