Marion's Smothers scores on 3 runs, pass and punt in 54-12 win over Taylor County

MARION COUNTY 54, TAYLOR COUNTY 12

BUTLER, Ga. -- Lorenzo Smothers ran for three touchdowns, caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt 75 yards for another score Friday night as Marion County defeated Taylor County 54-12. The win clinched the Region 4-A title for the Eagles.

Smothers had 9 carries for 170 yards.

Mykelle Kelley had 16 carries for 125 yards.

On the defensive side, Austin Brannon led the team with 10 tackles. Matt Dennis had eight tackles and 1 1/2 sacks. Kabron Ellison recorded nine tackles.

Marion County's offense was efficient, and the Eagles did not have to punt Friday night.
