Playoff pairings set for Central, Glenwood
The Central Red Devils will open the AHSAA Class 7A state playoffs by hosting Foley on Friday night at Garrett-Harrison Stadium.
Central finished the regular season at 7-3 after a 17-14 loss to Enterprise on Oct. 22. The Red Devils won the Region 2 championship for the second straight season.
Foley finished fourth in Region 1. The Lions were 6-4 overall and 4-4 in the region. They finished in a tie for fourth with Fairhope and Baker, but beat those two teams in a tiebreaker.
Meanwhile, Glenwood, the No. 4 seed from AISA Class AAA Region 2, will be on the road at Region 1 champion Morgan Academy.
Glenwood (4-5) beat Springwood 34-10 Friday night to close out the regular season.
Monroe Academy, which is located in Monroeville, finished 11-0 with a 34-10 win over Kingwood. The Volunteers won Region 1.
They are 14-2 against Glenwood, including 10 straight wins in the series. Glenwood's last win came in 1978.
