Class A state playoff pairings announced

The Class A power rankings were finalized on Wednesday, and the pairings for the Class A-private and --public school state tournaments were announced.

Pacelli will enter the playoffs as the No. 12 seed in the private-school tournament. The Vikings will travel to Kennesaw to face Mount Paran Christian in the first round.

Mount Paran was the highest-rated team, but region champions are awarded the top seeds in the bracket, so Mount Paran fell to No. 5.

Brookstone, will enter the private-school playoffs as the No. 14 seed. The Cougars will play at No. 3-seed Aquinas in Augusta.

Meanwhile, Marion County is the top seed for the public-school tournament. The Eagles host No. 16 seed Twiggs County.

All of the Class A openers, both public and private, will be played Nov. 20.
