Northgate knocks Shaw out of the playoffs
NEWNAN, Ga. -- Northgate knocked Shaw out of the Class AAAAA state playoffs with a 44-0 victory on Friday night at Henry Seldon Field.
Northgate, which improves to 10-1, was the No. 2 seed from Region 4. Shaw, which finished 5-6, was the 3 seed from Region 1.
Shaw finished with 91 yards rushing. BJ Knight led the way with 48. He completed just 1 of 21 passes for 11 yards.
The Raiders have lost three straight times in the first round of the state playoffs. Their last win came in 2008.
Shaw finished tied for third with LaGrange and Columbus in the region. The Raiders beat Columbus in a mini-game playoff to earn a playoff berth.
This was the second time this season Northgate beat Shaw. The Vikings opened the season with a 45-0 victory.
