None of the eight high schools in the Muscogee County School District will be playing up in classification for the period that begins with the 2016-17 school year.

Six of the eight schools did so in the current classification cycle as the school district said rising transportation costs were a factor.

While none were forced up, one did move down. Northside was slated to be in Class 5A with 1,357 students. Class 5A started at 1,345 and went up to 1,673. But seven schools slated to be 4A schools asked to be moved up, allowing the seven smallest 5A schools the chance to move down.

Northside will be in Region 1-4A along with Carver, Columbus, Shaw and Hardaway. Cairo, Americus-Sumter and Westover are also in the region.

Kendrick will play in Region 4-3A along with Central-Macon, Westside-Macon, Peach County, Pike County, Jackson and Rutland.

Jordan and Spencer, which were forced to play up in 3A with Kendrick in the current cycle, will be in Region 5-2A with Callaway, Heard County, Lamar County and Temple.

Harris County will be in Region 1-5A along with Bainbridge, Thomas County Central, Veterans and Warner Robins.

Chattahoochee County dropped down to Region 1-1A and will be in a subregion along with Calhoun County, Randolph-Clay, Stewart County and Terrell County.

Brookstone and Pacelli remain in Region 4-1A, but it is now subdivided. They are in a subregion with Manchester, Marion County, Greenville and Central-Talbotton.
