Brown resigns as Jordan football coach
Jordan High football coach Jim Brown resigned Monday after four seasons, according to principal Alton White.
White said he was not surprised by Brown's resignation.
"He and I had discussed it," White said.
Brown compiled an 8-32 record with three wins in each of the past two seasons.
Brown took over a program that went 0-10 in 2011. Brown's first season also ended 0-10, but then the Red Jackets went 2-8 in 2013 and 3-7 in each of the past two seasons while the school played up in classification.
White said the program was in better shape than when Brown took over.
"He did some good things," White said. "He got some more students out and won more games than we won the season before he got here."
Brown refused to comment, referring all questions to White.
White said the school will not name an interim coach. He said the school is in the process of filling out the schedule for the 2016 season since Jordan is going into a new region, Region 5-2A.
The new coach will have to continue the rebuilding job Brown started. The Red Jackets have not had a winning season since 1993.
