High school roundup: Northside, Columbus rifle teams get wins

The Northside Rifle Team defeated Crawford County at Northside Wednesday with a team score of 1,155 to Crawford's 798.

The Patriot squad had three shooters fire state qualifying individual scores with senior Jade Gallahair leading the pack with a 296.

With the win Northside advances to 2-0. Northside faces Central Talbotton next week in Talbotton.

Columbus High School's rifle team defeated Stewart County High School 1,135 to 781 on Wednesday.

The match high scorer was Veronica Leggett (290) followed by Sierra Moon (286). Leggett's score of 290 her qualified to compete in the Georgia High School Association State Championship as an individual shooter.
