High school roundup: Carver moves into tie for region lead

Joey Payne scored 23 points as Carver beat Northside 73-63 on Tuesday night. Combined with LaGrange's loss to Harris County, Carver moved into a tie with LaGrange for first in Region 1-5A.

Rahmir Nelson scored 12 points, and Jawon Pass added 10 for the Tigers.

Davion Thomas led Northside with 18 points. Cordale Scott added 11.
